Strategic Growth
We are focused on expanding our infrastructure platform and will pursue transactions in the following sectors:
- Energy - electricity and natural gas transmission, electricity and natural gas distribution
- Transportation- ports, railroads, tollroads, and airports
- Timber
- Other infrastructure - social infrastructure and industrial infrastructure
In addition, there are a number of organic growth opportunities within Brookfield Infrastructure Partners' existing operations such as revenue generating capital expenditures and operational improvements.
Operations-Oriented Approach
To execute our strategy, we seek to:
- Maintain a disciplined approach to acquisitions;
- Incorporate our technical insight into the evaluation and execution of acquisitions; and,
- Drive performance through a hands-on approach to key value drivers such as development projects, follow-on acquisitions and financings.
Relationship with Brookfield Asset Management
We believe that our relationship with Brookfield Asset Management will provide us with competitive advantages in comparison with a stand-alone infrastructure company in the following respects:
- Access to Brookfield Asset Management’s transaction structuring expertise;
- In conjunction with Brookfield Asset Management, ability to pursue acquisitions of businesses that own infrastructure assets along with operating businesses;
- Ability to participate alongside Brookfield Asset Management and in or alongside Brookfield Asset Management sponsored or co-sponsored consortiums and partnerships.
Participation in Brookfield Asset Management-Sponsored Partnerships
Brookfield Infrastructure Partners’ acquisition strategy focuses on large scale transactions, where Brookfield Asset Management has sufficient influence or control so that our operations-oriented approach can be deployed to create value. Accordingly, an integral part of our strategy is to participate with institutional investors in Brookfield Asset Management sponsored consortiums for single asset acquisitions and as a partner in or alongside Brookfield Asset Management sponsored partnerships that target acquisitions that suit our profile.
Brookfield Asset Management has a strong track record of leading such consortiums and partnerships and actively managing underlying assets to improve performance.
